Panama has a global and recognized reputation as one of the countries that enjoys one of the most organized maritime sectors in general. Its geographical position, together with the Panama Canal, have played a very important role in our development and growth throughout our history.
Since almost four decades ago, with the promulgation of Law No. 8 of 1982, Panama has one of the most specialized maritime legislations and courts.
The Maritime Courts in Panama, have evidenced to be one of the most highly effective and convenient for the international maritime community, when it comes to making their claims asserted. Also, the Panamanian legislation grants competence to the Panamanian Maritime Courts to handle claims by acts occurred outside the Panamanian territory.
